RAdm R Vijay Sekhar, took over as ASD, Visakhapatnam

New Delhi: RAdm R Vijay Sekhar, took over as ASD, Visakhapatnam from RAdm Sanjay Sadhu, during a ceremony held on 31 Jul 2023. Commissioned into Indian Navy in Nov 1988, RAdm Vijay Sekhar is an alumnus of DSSC and CDM, Secunderabad and holds a Master's Degree in Defence Studies. 

During his distinguished career spanning over 34 years, Admiral has held several prestigious Operational, Dockyard, Design and Staff appointments. He has served onboard INS Vagli, INS Shankul and INS Shalki as well as INS Jyoti.

Prior to taking over as ASD, he has held appointments in various capacities in Strategic Programme and as #ACOM(Mod) at IHQ MOD (Navy). 

Admiral has been trained at Russia for systems onboard erstwhile INS Chakra, He has served in ND Visakhapatnam and Mumbai.

Admiral has been awarded prestigious Nao Sena Medal by President of India in 2020. 

RAdm Sanjay Sadhu, who was at the helm at ND, Visakhapatnam will be taking over as CSO (Tech) at WNC.
