Mercedes EQS SUV Sets Guinness World Record for Extreme Temperature Drive

Mumbai, July 2025: In a groundbreaking achievement that highlights the capabilities of electric mobility, Autocar India and Mercedes-Benz India have secured a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS Title for the Greatest Temperature Change Achieved by an Electric Production Car. The record-setting journey saw the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC SUV traverse from the scorching heat of Ranao, Rajasthan, to the icy heights of Khardung La In adakh, experiencing a staggering temperature variation of 51.2°C.
The expedition commenced from the outskirts of Jaisalmer, where ambient temperatures soared to 47.5°C, testing both man and machine in extreme heat. From there, the EQS 450 4MATIC
embarked on a challenging ascent to Khardung La, one of the world's highest motorable passes,
where temperatures plummeted to -3.7°C. This remarkable journey not only underscores the
resilience of electric vehicles but also sets a new benchmark in the annals of automotive
endurance.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC SUV, chosen for this endeavour, is a testament to cutting- edge electric vehicle engineering. Equipped with a robust 122kWh battery pack that enables over 600km of real-world range, it delivers a maximum power output of 360hp and a peak torque of 800 Nm. Beyond performance, the EQS 450 4MATIC’s advanced all-wheel-drive system ensures optimal traction across diverse terrains, from desert sands to snow-laden passes. The vehicles aerodynamic design, complemented by features like the MBUX Hyperscreen and a 15-speaker Burmester sound system, offers both efficiency and luxury.
Safety remains paramount, with the EQS 450 4MATIC incorporating nine airbags, Level 2 ADAS, and a 360-degree camera system. These features ensured that the vehicle remained steadfast and secure throughout the demanding journey.
