SHRM’s Aanya is a one-of-a-kind Leadership program for women that looks at leadership from a different lens.

SHRM is proud to unveil a transformative initiative started by SAIL (Steel Authority of India) aimed at cultivating and celebrating the brilliance of women leaders across functions and locations. The program is aptly called Aanya which means “Gracious and Limitless”.

SHRM’s Aanya is a one-of-a-kind Leadership program for women that looks at leadership from a different lens. The program is about the unique strengths women bring to leadership.

The program is spread over 3 to 4 months and is peppered with pre- and post-assessments along with personalized coaching, experiential classroom sessions, thought leadership, outbound learning retreats, and many digitized modes of learning. The program also has unique and customized learning opportunities that have been crafted keeping in mind the environment and business goals of SAIL.

The program was inaugurated by Director Personnel, Shri. K K Singh, who called upon this 1st batch of “Aanya” participants to be the change catalysts and role models for future women leaders in the organization. 

Further in the month, SHRM India has conducted several rounds of pre-assessments in the leadership journey. Based on the analysis, experiential training programs were conducted in the beautiful Management Training Institute campus in Ranchi. 

Ms. Daisy Hembrom welcomed the participants with an introduction to MTI and the Aanya program. 

Mr Sanjeev Kumar, ED (HR) spoke a few words of encouragement to the participants. He urged them to use every opportunity to learn and try to imbibe information from others’ jobs as cross-functional knowledge is becoming exceedingly important in today’s volatile world.

Mr. Sanjay Dhar, CGM, MTI, underlined the importance of Aanya as it was a pilot program at SAIL and added that the organization will add many such programs in the future aimed at women empowerment. 

The first phase of the program was all about managing the self, an inward-looking journey. 

The program highlight was also a special visit to the Maya Lab giving participants the ultimate experience in Virtual Reality, Haptics, and Augmented Reality. The aim of the lab is to scale up this technology and use it for training at various plants.
