Swapna Devireddy Repatriated to Parent Cadre from Drinking Water & Sanitation Department
New Delhi, 9 March, 2026: The Government of India has approved the premature repatriation of Swapna Devireddy, an officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS-IT:2010), from her position as Director in the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation to her parent cadre.
The decision was communicated through an Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), which functions as the central personnel agency of the Government of India.
Repatriation Approved on Personal Grounds
According to the memorandum issued by the Office of the Establishment Officer, the competent authority approved the proposal for Devireddy’s premature repatriation on personal grounds.
She has been directed to be relieved from her current duties immediately and report back to her parent cadre.
The repatriation has been granted with the provision of “extended cooling off,” a condition that regulates future central deputation assignments after returning to the parent service.
Role in the Department
Swapna Devireddy had been serving as Director in the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, which works under the Ministry of Jal Shakti and oversees key national programmes related to rural drinking water supply and sanitation.
Government Communication
The Office Memorandum was issued from Kartavya Bhawan, New Delhi, by Annies Kanmani Joy, Director (MM) in the Department of Personnel and Training.
Copies of the communication were also shared with the Cabinet Secretariat and other relevant officials for information and necessary action.
