ONGC Appoints Vinod Seshan as Government Nominee Director
New Delhi, March 10, 2026: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has announced the appointment of Vinod Seshan as a Government Nominee Director on the company’s Board.
The appointment was approved by the company’s board and disclosed to National Stock Exchange of India and BSE Limited in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
Appointment Effective March 9, 2026
Vinod Seshan, who currently serves as Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has been appointed as Government Nominee Director with effect from March 9, 2026.
According to the company, the appointment will be for a period of three years on a co-terminus basis or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
ONGC also confirmed that Seshan is not debarred from holding the office of director by SEBI or any other authority and does not have any relationship with existing directors on the board.
Professional Background
Vinod Seshan is a 2008 batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from the Assam cadre.
He has more than 20 years of professional experience, including over 17 years in policy-making, infrastructure development, project management, district administration, and crisis response.

Over his career, he has held several leadership roles as administrator, team leader, and project director, and has also served on the boards of government companies, including Oil India Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL).
Before joining the civil services, Seshan worked in the software services sector in India, handling responsibilities related to software development, testing, and knowledge management.
Education and Expertise
Seshan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University in Karnataka.
He also earned Master’s degrees in Public Policy and Infrastructure, Investment and Finance from University College London.
His professional interests include large-scale infrastructure projects, financing models, and sustainable development initiatives.
