Mumbai, March 10, 2026: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has announced changes to its Board of Directors, including the appointment of Vedveer Arya as an Additional Director and the completion of tenure of Independent Director Sushma Agarwal.

The update was disclosed to BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India in compliance with SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements (LODR) Regulations, 2015.

 

Vedveer Arya Appointed to BPCL Board

BPCL stated that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, has nominated Vedveer Arya to the company’s board for a three-year term on a co-terminus basis or until further orders.

Accordingly, Arya has been appointed as an Additional Director with effect from March 9, 2026.

He currently serves as Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor (AS&FA) in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

 

Professional Background

Vedveer Arya is a 1997 batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) and holds a Master’s degree from University of Delhi.

Over the course of his career, he has held several senior positions within the Government of India, including:

  • Joint Secretary & Additional Financial Adviser (R&D) at the Ministry of Defence

  • Integrated Financial Adviser to Southern Naval Command in Kochi and Southern Air Command in Thiruvananthapuram

  • Director (Finance) at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Hyderabad, where he worked on programmes including the Agni Missile project and other tactical missile systems.

He is also known for authoring several books on Indian history and mathematics.

The company confirmed that Arya is not debarred from holding the office of director by SEBI or any other authority and does not have any relationship with other directors or key managerial personnel at BPCL.

Independent Director Sushma Agarwal Completes Tenure

Meanwhile, Dr. (Smt.) Sushma Agarwal has ceased to be an Independent Director of BPCL with effect from March 10, 2026, following the completion of her tenure on the board.

BPCL thanked her for her contributions during her term as an independent director.
