Sharma is a 1990 Batch Indian Revenue Services Officer, and currently working as the Chairman and Managing Director of SECI, prior to this assignment she worked as an Additional DG of DGFT.

Suman Sharma, SECI Chairman appointed as UPSC Member

New Delhi: Ms. Suman Sharma, the chairman of Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited has been appointed as the Member of Union Public Service Commission by the government of India.

Sharma is a 1990 Batch Indian Revenue Services Officer, and currently working as the Chairman and Managing Director of SECI, prior to this assignment she worked as an Additional DG of DGFT.

On 29 August 2021, she took charge as CMD and had a tenure till 28 August 2026. She will attain retirement on 31 July 2027 but as per the terms of service, she would serve as UPSC Member up to May 2029.

She began her career as an IRS officer in Ahmedabad and subsequently worked in Surat, Delhi, Pune and Mumbai. Worked with the Central Board of Direct Taxes and gained experience in international tax while working in the Directorate of International Taxation and Transfer Pricing. Before joining SECI, she worked in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, as the Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, North Zone.
