WCL achieved highest ever coal production, dispatch and OBR
CMD Shri J. P. Dwivedi addressed Team WCL through the program 'Ru-Ba-Ru' - congratulated for the achievements.
Western Coalfields Limited for the financial year 2023-24 has recorded a historic growth in coal production, dispatch and OBR, breaking all its previous records.
In the financial year 2023-24, WCL has produced 69.11 million tonnes of coal, surpassing the target of 68 million tonnes of coal production. WCL has achieved an increase of 7.5 % in coal production as compared to last year.
WCL has also set a new record in coal dispatch. Exceeding its target for the year 2023-24, WCL produced 70.20 million tonnes. Coal has been dispatched. This is 12.9 % more than last year.
In the year 2023-24, WCL has removed 410.8 million cubic meters of OB, breaking all previous records of OBR. This is 51.8 million cubic meters more than the target set for the year 2023-24. WCL has achieved a 25% increase in OB removal as compared to last year.

Dwivedi interacted directly with Team Vekoli through the program 'Ru-Ba-Ru'. In his address, he said that in the financial year 2023-24, WCL has achieved the highest coal production, dispatch and overburden removal since the inception of the company. He congratulated Team Vekoli for these achievements.
He further said that in the financial year 2023-24, WCL dispatched 60.05 million tonnes of coal to the power plant. This is the highest till date and compared to last year it is 7.1. % is more. Similarly, coal dispatch through rail mode is also the highest till date at 39.16 million tonnes. This is 16.4% from last year % is more.
He said that this historic growth in WCL is the result of many positive initiatives. Highlighting the importance of safety in mining work, he said that to make the coal mining process more effective and safe, new technologies like Continuous Miner and Surface Miner are being widely adopted. 4 in WCL Additional surface miners and 21 new continuous miners in the planned interval Plan to install. He said that in order to speed up the process of coal dispatch, the work of first mile connectivity project is being done rapidly in MKD- III mine of Umrer area and Mungoli mine of Wani area and first mile connectivity is also being done for the cheap mine of Ballarpur area. The project has been approved.

Similarly, there was a significant contribution of coal production of 13.55 million tonnes from Umrer region and 10.47 million tonnes of coal production from Ballarpur region.
Encouraged by the historic growth of the financial year 2023-24, Team WCL has also set targets for the new financial year. The target of coal production for the financial year 2024-25 has been set at 69 million tonnes.
