Western Coalfields Commissions new hydraulic excavator
Maharashtra: Coal India subsidiary, Western Coalfields Limited has commissioned a hydraulic excavator at the Durgapur opencast mine (OCM) and a dozer and a hydraulic excavator at the Bhatadi OCM in Chandrapur Area, Maharashtra.
These newly commissioned heavy earth moving machines (HEMMs) will provide a definitive edge to the on-ground workforce, helping them to maximize production and achieve targets.
The Durgapur Opencast mine has a designed capacity of 2.3 MTPA in an area of 1354.64 ha. The mine received environment clearance vide letter J-11015/ 66 /2006 IA.II(M) from MoEF&CC on 30 March 2007.
The EC for further expansion of the mine was granted on 16 March 2012 to the Durgapur Opencast expansion project from 2.30 MTPA to 3 MTPA in a reduced mine lease area of 1186.54 ha.
