WIPS WCL receives Best Activity Award

On 30.11.2024, the Regional Conference of Women in Public Sector (WIPS ) – Western Region was held in the Cultural Hall of WCL Headquarters. All the subsidiary companies of Coal India along with HPCL, ONGC, RCF, and Representatives from public sector companies like Mazagon Dockyards Limited , MOIL, ECGC, NPCIL etc. participated.

WCL CMD Shri J.P. Dwivedi was present as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the conference. In his address, CMD Shri J.P. Dwivedi congratulated the women present and praised the work done under VIPS throughout the year. He said that the participation of women in the coal mining industry is constantly increasing. At present, about 10% of the total workforce in WCL is women. Talking on the subject of women empowerment, he explained in detail the work done by WCL under CSR in this regard. Citing the example of Her Excellency President Smt. Draupadi Murmu ji, he urged women to prepare themselves for bigger responsibilities.

WCL Director Technical (Operations and Planning & Projects) Shri A.K. Singh, Director (Finance & Personnel) Shri Bikram Ghosh, Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Ajay Madhukar Mehtare, were present as special guests at the inaugural function. Chairperson-Apex ( WIPS) Smt. Varsha Raut, WIPS – West Zone President Mrs. Anupama Temurnikar, Secretary Mrs. Manjiri Purandare, and Treasurer Mrs. Vandana Atram were present. Mrs. Anupama Temurnikar delivered the welcome address in the program. After this Mrs. Sugandha Patil from ONGC and President-Apex (WIPs) Mrs. Varsha Raut addressed the gathering. The guests distributed prizes for essay and slogan competitions organized earlier by WIPs .      

Women in Public Sector (WIPS) , WCL was awarded the 'Best Activity Award' for outstanding work during the year 2023-24. On behalf of WIPS WCL, this award was received by President (West Region) Mrs. Anupama Temurnikar, office bearers and members. I

Dr. Pragya Mathur on the topic of ' Healthy mind is the key to healthy life ' in the conference; Dr. on the topic of 'Experiential treatment ' Mrs. Kirti Bohra on the topic of ' Mindfulness' Special sessions were organized by Mrs. Padmini Jog and Dr. Shailesh Pangaonkar on 'Solution of Stress and Anxiety' I

It should be known that VIPS WCL has done special work in the context of social responsibility, health and training. These include organizing breast cancer awareness camps, blood donation camps, yoga camps, nutrition awareness, uterine cancer screening camps etc. for women. Along with these works, many other activities like tree plantation, active contribution in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, distribution of material among school children, pand rograms on the occasion of Women's Day, Nurses Day, and Mother's Day are also included.
