Tata Power Sets New Rooftop Solar Record, Crosses 1 GW Capacity in Just 9 Months
New Delhi: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has achieved a major milestone by crossing 1 GWp of rooftop solar installation capacity within the first nine months of FY26, further cementing its position as India’s No. 1 rooftop solar company.
The company added more than 1 GWp of new rooftop solar capacity, recording a 127% year-on-year growth compared to 444.78 MWp in the same period last year. Customer adoption also surged sharply, with 1.7 lakh new customers added, marking an exceptional 345% YoY increase.
With this achievement, Tata Power’s total rooftop solar customer base has now crossed 3 lakh, while its cumulative installed rooftop capacity has exceeded 4 GWp nationwide.
Q3 FY26 Delivers Breakout Growth
The October–December quarter of FY26 proved to be a standout period for the company, as TPREL completed 58,476 rooftop installations adding 372 MWp capacity — a massive 242% YoY growth over Q3 FY25.

On a cumulative basis, Maharashtra leads with 855.21 MWp, followed by Gujarat (525.81 MWp), Tamil Nadu (318.35 MWp) and Chhattisgarh (285.62 MWp).
