NEW DELHI-In a major breakthrough, T91 (SA213) grade seamless steel tubes, hitherto being imported, have been successfully manufactured in-house from steel blooms, by BHEL’s Tiruchirappalli unit.
The first consignment of these in-house manufactured steel tubes was flagged-off by Mr. Anil Kapoor, Director (HR) and Addl.Charge of Director (Power), BHEL, at a function held at BHEL Tiruchirappalli.
Mr. S. V. Srinivasan, General Manager (In-Charge), BHEL Tiruchirappalli and other senior officials of the unit were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kapoor, who is also spearheading BHEL’s efforts towards the Government of India’s make in india initiative, said that the indigenisation of import substitute products will not only help in BHEL’s thermal business but also in generating new business opportunities in other sectors.
