New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), hosted the fourth edition of its annual dialogue, BHEL SAMVAAD 4.0, at Bharat Mandapam on November 26, 2025.

The event focused on the theme 'Strengthening self-reliance through innovation and collaboration.' It brought together a variety of stakeholders, including domestic business partners, industry associations, academia, research institutes, and government ministries like DoE, DPIIT, MoP, MeitY, and Railways, as well as CPSEs such as NTPC, SAIL, HAL, BPCL, IOCL, and ONGC. The goal was to continue BHEL's efforts in localization and support the Prime Minister's vision of 'Self-Reliant India' (AatmaNirbharta).

 

Minister Highlights Transformative Growth  
Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, Shri H. D. Kumaraswamy, praised BHEL's essential role in strengthening the nation's manufacturing capabilities. He described SAMVAAD as a unique platform for collaboration that promotes the self-reliance agenda. He pointed out the significant growth of India's manufacturing sector driven by initiatives like Make in India and Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes.

Key Initiatives and Discussions  
Ministry's View: Shri Kamran Rizvi, Secretary (HI), praised BHEL for using the platform to encourage indigenization. He appreciated the focus of the technical sessions, which covered topics like AI and Cyber Security.

Supplier Development: Shri Vijay Mittal, Joint Secretary (HI), highlighted the vital role of developing local suppliers. He commended BHEL for using platforms like Government e Marketplace (GeM) to enhance transparency in procurement and support growth for MSMEs.

CMD's Call to Action: Shri K. Sadashiv Murthy, CMD of BHEL, stated that the company's focus goes beyond indigenizing its procurement. It also includes developing products for other entities to lower their import levels. He mentioned the successful development and supply of Ceramic Pouring Tubes to Indian Railways as an example of this commitment.

During the event, the Union Minister released “Udyog Bharati,” a magazine from MHI, along with BHEL’s Engineering Compendium, “Innovation to AatmaNirbharta.” Star performers who made significant contributions to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat cause were also recognized.
