BHEL receives demand order from GST Authorities, Gujarat

New Delhi: Government-owned engineering enterprise, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received a demand order from GST Authorities, Gujarat. The order has been passed by Office of the Assistant Commissioner of State Tax (2), Enforcement, Division – 5, Gujarat.
The total penalty of the order is around Rs 29.7 lakhs.
The Company has received the impugned Order on account of dispute regarding input tax credit availment & utilization amounting to Rs.12,94,982/- (Rupees Twelve Lakh Ninety-Four Thousand Nine Hundred and Eighty-Two only) along with consequential interest of Rs. 16,85,322/- (Rupees Sixteen Lakhs Eighty-Five Thousand Three Hundred and Twenty-Two Only) and penalty of Rs. 12,94,982/- (Rupees Twelve Lakh Ninety-Four Thousand Nine Hundred and Eighty-Two only).
The Order is currently appealable & Company is evaluating the impugned order for filing an appeal. The period for which the order is communicated is 2018-19.
