BPCL to pay 1 crore compensation to CPCB for non compliance with environmental guidelines
Oil Major PSU, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) has announced that Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has directed the company to deposit Environmental Compensation of Rs.1 crore for not complying with the timelines prescribed in CPCB directions dated 18th September 2020 and 11th November 2024.

The company under Section 5 of Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, will have to deposit environmental compensation of Rs.1 crore to CPCB, for not complying the timelines prescribed in CPCB directions dated 18.9.2020 and 11.11.2024.
The Company has stated that it would be seeking legal views in the matter on the next course of action. Further, there would be no impact on financial or operational activities of the company.
