Chief Conservator of Forests Visits NHPC’s 2880 MW Dibang Project, Reviews Environmental Compliance
Arunachal Pradesh: Shri Soplan Manyu (IFS), Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF), Eastern Arunachal Circle, Tezu, visited NHPC’s 2880 MW Dibang Multipurpose Project (DMPP) on 29 December 2025, accompanied by senior officials of the State Forest Department.
The delegation included the Divisional Forest Officer (Territorial), Roing, Assistant Conservator of Forests, Tezu, and other departmental officers. The team was received by Shri Narender Kumar, Executive Director & Head of Project (HoP), DMPP.
During the visit, the CCF conducted a detailed review of environmental management practices, forest conservation measures, and statutory environmental safeguards being implemented at the project site. He inspected muck dumping areas, quarry and crusher sites, and assessed the progress of forest land demarcation using RCC pillars, along with the felling and extraction of project-affected trees.
Shri Soplan Manyu expressed satisfaction over NHPC’s strict adherence to environmental norms and appreciated the project’s commitment to sustainable development. He also assured the project management of the State Forest Department’s full cooperation for the successful execution of this nationally important hydropower project.
The Dibang Multipurpose Project is one of India’s largest hydropower projects and plays a strategic role in strengthening the nation’s renewable energy capacity while maintaining ecological balance in the region.
