Coal India Limited observed the World Day for Safety and Health at Work at its corporate office with a series of events aimed at reinforcing workplace safety and employee well-being. The programme commenced with Chairman Shri B. Sairam, along with Functional Directors and the Chief Vigilance Officer, paying floral tribute at the Martyr’s Memorial, followed by the unfurling of the Safety Flag.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman emphasized the growing importance of a positive psychosocial work environment in ensuring workplace safety and productivity. He highlighted that clarity of roles, manageable workloads, effective supervision, and employees feeling heard and respected are key factors in building a healthy organizational culture. He further underlined the need to strengthen supervisory systems that promote trust, open communication, and encourage employees to voice concerns without hesitation.

Director (HR), Dr. Vinay Ranjan, informed that a comprehensive mental health and well-being programme has been designed for employees. The initiative aims to enhance awareness, provide structured support mechanisms, and foster open dialogue around mental health, ensuring a resilient and inclusive workplace environment.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Director (Marketing) Shri Mukesh Choudhary, Director (Finance) Shri Mukesh Agrawal, Director (Business Development) Shri Asheesh Kumar, and CVO Shri Brajesh Kumar Tripathy. The event also featured various competitions organized for employees and their families to promote awareness on safety and health practices.

Observed globally on April 28, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work highlights the importance of preventing occupational accidents and diseases. This year’s theme, “Let’s ensure a healthy psychosocial working environment,” underscores the growing need to address workplace stress and prioritize mental well-being as an integral part of organizational safety frameworks.
