Consumer Meet Organized at SECL Headquarters; Special Focus on Quality

New Delhi: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) organized a Consumer Meet on 16 February 2026 at its Headquarters in Bilaspur with the objective of strengthening coordination and fostering constructive dialogue with coal consumers. The meeting was chaired by SECL’s CMD, Shri Harish Duhan.

Director (Technical/Operations), Shri N. Franklin Jayakumar, and Director (Technical/Projects & Planning), Shri Ramesh Chandra Mohapatra, were also present on the occasion.

In his presidential address, CMD Shri Harish Duhan emphasized that Team SECL is now working with the guiding principle of “Quality Above All.” He stated that SECL’s objective is not merely higher coal production, but to ensure supply of high-quality, reliable, and timely coal to consumers.

He invited consumers to share their suggestions and feedback openly and assured that all inputs received would be examined seriously and followed by necessary corrective measures. Shri Duhan reiterated that through robust quality control, transparency, technological upgradation, and improved coordination, SECL remains committed to prioritizing consumer satisfaction and reliably meeting the energy requirements of industries.

Director (Technical/Operations) Shri N. Franklin Jayakumar, while addressing the gathering, reiterated the mantra, “Production with Purity, Dispatch with Quality.” He stressed that ensuring quality at every stage—from production to dispatch—is SECL’s highest priority and that consumer satisfaction is the true measure of the company’s success.

At the outset, General Manager (Mining/Sales) Shri Ajit Chaudhary delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation highlighting SECL’s operational framework, production systems, quality management practices, and initiatives undertaken to provide better services to consumers.

During the interactive session, consumers raised queries and offered suggestions on issues including refund of coal value, bank guarantees, supply of quality coal, and other operational matters. CMD Shri Harish Duhan remained present throughout the meeting and addressed all concerns in detail, assuring prompt resolution of issues.

General Manager (Quality) Shri Sanjeev Nigam, General Manager (Finance) Smt. Ronti Basu, along with other senior officials of the company, were also present on the occasion.
