Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) organised an Induction Ceremony for newly appointed employees, marking an important milestone in strengthening its workforce and reaffirming its commitment to inclusive growth and employee welfare.

A total of 85 appointments were formalised during the programme. Of these, 67 appointments were made under the National Coal Wage Agreement (NCWA) dependent employment scheme, while 18 were provided under the Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) Policy, reflecting ECL’s continued focus on supporting affected families and facilitating dignified livelihoods.

The ceremony was attended by Shri Satish Jha, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, ECL, along with Shri Gunjan Kumar Sinha, Director (HR) and Shri Girish Gopinathan Nair, Director (Technical/Project & Planning). Senior officials including Shri Punyadip Bhattacharya, GM (HR/IR), Shri Dibyajyoti Ghosh, HoD (Employment & Recruitment), Shri Nazrul Islam, HoD (WBE) and Shri Abir Mukhopadhyay, HoD (Administration) were also present.

Addressing the new appointees, the leadership congratulated them and encouraged them to uphold the values of discipline, integrity and public service that define Eastern Coalfields Limited as a public sector organisation. The induction programme underscored ECL’s emphasis on building a capable, motivated and socially responsible workforce aligned with its long-term operational and community commitments.

The initiative reflects ECL’s ongoing efforts to balance operational excellence with its social responsibilities under the Ministry of Coal.
