GAIL awarded onland exploration block under OALP VII Bidding Round
New Delhi, August 22. 2025: GAIL (India) Limited has been awarded an onland exploration block (RJ-ONHP-2021/1) located in the Barmer district of Rajasthan, under the Open Acreage Licensing Programme (OALP) – VII Bidding Round. GAIL has commenced drilling of its first exploratory well, Sheo 1, marking a significant milestone in its upstream exploration and production journey.
To mark and celebrate the occasion, Shri R. K. Singhal, Director (Business Development), Shri Sanjay Agarwal, Executive Director (BD & E&P), and other senior officials from GAIL visited the Sheo#1 drilling well site for the spudding ceremony on 20.08.2025.
This development underscores GAIL’s continued commitment to strengthening India’s energy security and expanding its footprint in the upstream sector.
