GAIL CMD Deepak Gupta Reviews Vijaipur Operations, Launches Floating Solar Power Project
New Delhi,April 24, 2026: Deepak Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL (India) Limited, visited the company’s Vijaipur plant on April 21, 2026 to conduct a comprehensive operational review and strengthen supply preparedness.
Focus on LPG Supply and Energy Security
The Vijaipur complex is a key pillar of GAIL’s liquid hydrocarbon value chain, particularly in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) production, which supports millions of households and essential services across India.
During the visit, the CMD reviewed:
- Plant operational efficiency and reliability
- Supply chain readiness and evacuation systems
- Measures to maintain uninterrupted LPG availability
With evolving global geopolitical dynamics impacting energy markets, discussions also centred on strengthening resilience, maintaining high plant load factors, and ensuring supply continuity.
Renewable Push: Floating Solar Power Plant Inaugurated
As part of GAIL’s clean energy transition, Shri Gupta inaugurated:
- 7.75 MW Floating Solar Power Plant
- 0.78 MW Ground-mounted Solar Capacity
These additions significantly expand the renewable energy portfolio at the Vijaipur complex and reinforce GAIL’s commitment to sustainable operations.
Compressor System Upgrade Enhances Efficiency
The visit also marked the upgrade of the control system of Solar Turbines DVPL Gas Turbine Compressors (15.3 MW & 10 MMSCMD) to the advanced TurboTronics™️6 platform.
The upgrade is expected to:
- Improve operational efficiency and reliability
- Strengthen IT–OT integration
- Reduce emissions
- Support sustained high-efficiency LPG production
The review highlights GAIL’s continued focus on energy security, operational excellence, and the integration of renewable energy into its core infrastructure.
