GAIL Revises Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda Pipeline Project Completion Schedule to February 2026
Mumbai, January 31, 2026 GAIL (India) Limited has announced a revision in the completion schedule for its flagship Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda Pipeline (MNJPL) project. The update was approved by the Board of Directors in their meeting held today.
The MNJPL, spanning a total length of 1,702 km, comprises three major sections:
-
Mumbai to Nagpur Pipeline (Part-A): 693 km
-
Nagpur to Jharsuguda Pipeline (Part-B): 692 km
-
Nagpur to Jabalpur Pipeline (Part-C): 317 km
While the project was initially expected to be completed by January 1, 2026, the new completion date has been revised to February 28, 2026. Pre-commissioning and commissioning activities are currently underway across various sections.
The Mumbai-Nagpur section, along with parts of the Chhattisgarh and Odisha sections of the Nagpur-Jharsuguda stretch, have already been operationalized, ensuring a phased supply of gas in these regions. The remaining sections are expected to be fully operational by February 2026.
GAIL is also in the process of seeking approval from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) for the extension in the completion schedule.
The MNJPL project is a critical infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing natural gas connectivity across central and eastern India, supporting industrial growth and ensuring energy security in the region.
