HPCL Launches Domestic PNG Supply and First CNG Station in Godda, Jharkhand
New Delhi: Marking a significant milestone in Jharkhand’s clean energy journey, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) inaugurated Domestic Piped Natural Gas (D-PNG) supply in Godda along with the district’s first CNG station and a De-compression Unit (DCU) to enable gasification of the town.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Member of Parliament Dr. Nishikant Dubey, along with dignitaries from Godda Nagar Parishad, Mahagama Nagar Panchayat, senior HPCL officials and distinguished guests.
A special message from the Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas Shri Hardeep Singh Puri highlighted India’s vision of building a cleaner, greener, gas-based economy through rapid expansion of City Gas Distribution infrastructure across the country. He appreciated HPCL’s efforts in strengthening CGD infrastructure in Jharkhand and noted that the Godda DCU represents a major step towards providing clean, convenient and affordable fuel solutions to households in the region.
During the event, the Hon’ble MP inaugurated the district’s first CNG station at Indra Auto Service and ceremonially dispensed CNG to the first vehicle. He also inaugurated the DCU and visited the residence of the first PNG customer in Godda, where the commencement of Domestic PNG supply was marked by lighting the cooking stove flame.
This initiative represents a major step toward sustainable and environment-friendly energy adoption, bringing safer, economical and uninterrupted fuel access closer to citizens in the region.
