IRCTC to installed Water Vending Machines at Railway Stations.
NEW DELHI . IRCTC has decided to install machines with latest technology which have wastage of water not more than 30% as compared to normal domestic RO system where water wastage is around 60-70%. To minimize the wastage further, ultra-filtration technology which generates wastage around 10% will be employed wherever raw water TDS is less than 400 ppm. Similarly capacitive/electro de-ionization technology will also be used to reduce the wastage of water. In each machine there will be an automatic dispensing system which will facilitate passengers to buy pure and chilled water in different quantities at very low cost.
There are more than 8,500 stations over Indian Railways categorised from A-1 to F. IRCTC has planned to install 4,500 machines during phase-I at A-1, A, B & C category stations which are around 1200 nos. IRCTC has already initiated the process of identifying the likely interested parties in this project.
Since water is very precious, particularly during summer season at Railway stations.
This will generate employment to the extent of 10,000 persons as most of these machines will be manned. Some of the machines will have the option to be operated through token or smart card also .
