JSW Steel Reports 24.75 Lakh Tonnes Crude Steel Production in January 2026

JSW Steel Limited on Monday reported a consolidated crude steel production of 24.75 lakh tonnes for January 2026, reflecting a marginal year-on-year decline due to planned operational shutdowns in India and the United States.

According to the company’s regulatory filing, production from Indian operations stood at 24.58 lakh tonnes, broadly stable compared to the same period last year. Output levels were impacted by the temporary shutdown of Blast Furnace-3 (BF3) at the Vijayanagar plant, which has been under upgradation since September 2025. The furnace is expected to be commissioned by the end of Q4 FY26.

Excluding BF3 capacity, capacity utilisation at Indian operations was around 93% during the quarter, while utilisation including BF3 stood at 85%, indicating strong operational efficiency despite maintenance activity.

At its overseas operations, JSW Steel USA – Ohio recorded production of 0.17 lakh tonnes, significantly lower on a year-on-year basis. The decline was attributed to a scheduled outage for caster upgrades, which remained in effect from mid-December 2025 to mid-January 2026.

JSW Steel remains India’s largest integrated steel producer, with a current consolidated crude steel capacity of 35.7 MTPA, including 1.5 MTPA in the US. The company has outlined expansion plans that will raise total capacity to 48.9 MTPA over the next four years.

The Vijayanagar facility in Karnataka continues to be the largest single-location steel plant in India, with an installed capacity of 17.5 MTPA.

Outlook

With the commissioning of BF3 expected later this financial year and overseas upgrades completed, production volumes are likely to normalise in the coming months, supporting JSW Steel’s medium-term growth trajectory.
