MDL Hosts Naval Group CEO Pierre Éric Pommellet, Eyes Future Submarine Projects

Mumbai | February 2026: Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) hosted Pierre Éric Pommellet, CEO of Naval Group, during his official visit to India as part of the French delegation.

The visit highlighted the strong and longstanding strategic partnership between MDL and Naval Group, which successfully delivered the P75 Kalvari Class submarines for the Indian Navy. The Kalvari-class programme stands as a major milestone in India’s submarine-building capability and defence indigenisation journey.

During the discussions, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating on future submarine programmes for domestic and export markets. The engagement also focused on strengthening lifecycle support for the Indian Navy by enhancing indigenisation efforts and ensuring faster availability of critical spares.

The meeting reflects the continued momentum in Indo-French defence cooperation and underscores MDL’s growing role as a key submarine construction and maintenance hub in the region.
