NCL Conducts Master Class on RTI Act 2005 to Strengthen Transparency and Good Governance
Singrauli: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, organised a one-day Master Class on the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005 at the Management Development Institute (MDI), CETI, Singrauli, on Monday. The initiative aimed at enhancing awareness and strengthening understanding of the provisions and practical implementation of the RTI Act among employees across the organization.
The programme featured Shri V. Parvathesam, an eminent Arbitration Lawyer, Legal Consultant, Corporate Trainer, and Managing Partner of Hindustan Academy of Law, who delivered an insightful session on the constitutional foundations and key provisions of the RTI Act, 2005.
During the session, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the Act's significance in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance within public administration. The programme also highlighted citizens' rights under the RTI framework, the responsibilities of public authorities, the role of Public Information Officers (PIOs), and the procedures involved in seeking and disseminating information.
A key highlight of the master class was the discussion on important case studies and landmark judicial pronouncements concerning the implementation and interpretation of the RTI Act. These deliberations provided participants with valuable perspectives on the legal intricacies and practical challenges associated with handling RTI applications and appeals.
Around 60 participants representing various NCL Areas and Units attended the programme, reflecting the company's commitment to fostering legal awareness and institutional transparency across its operations.
The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, where participants sought clarifications on several practical aspects related to RTI implementation. The exchange enabled attendees to deepen their understanding of procedural requirements and best practices for ensuring effective information management.
