Lower Dibang Valley: Senior leaders from the Government of Arunachal Pradesh visited the 2880 MW Dibang Multipurpose Project of NHPC Limited to review the progress of ongoing construction works.

The inspection was led by Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, Rural Works, Parliamentary Affairs & Libraries, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Passang Dorjee Sona. He was accompanied by the Hon’ble MLA, Roing & Advisor to the Home and Education Minister; the Hon’ble MLA, Dambuk; Secretary (Tourism) Shri Ramphoa Ngowa; and the Deputy Commissioner of Lower Dibang Valley, along with other senior state government officials.

The delegation inspected various components of the strategically significant 2880 MW Dibang Multipurpose Project, which is one of India’s largest hydropower initiatives currently under development.

On the occasion, Executive Director & Head of Project, Shri Narendra Kumar, briefed the dignitaries on the status of key ongoing works, including dam construction, infrastructure development, and associated facilities. He also expressed appreciation for the continued cooperation and support extended by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh toward the smooth execution of the project.

Hon’ble Minister Shri Passang Dorjee Sona lauded the scale and pace of construction activities and assured full support from the State Government to ensure the successful and timely completion of the project. He emphasized the project’s importance in boosting regional development, employment generation, and strengthening India’s renewable energy capacity.

The Dibang Multipurpose Project is expected to significantly enhance hydropower generation in the Northeast region while contributing to sustainable development and energy security.
