Arunachal Pradesh, February 17, 2026: NHPC Limited has successfully completed the daylighting of Diversion Tunnel-3 (DT-3) at the 2880 MW Dibang Multipurpose Project (DMP), marking a crucial milestone in one of India’s largest hydropower projects.

The final blast was symbolically triggered by Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), NHPC, in the presence of Shri Narender Kumar, Executive Director & HoP–DMP, Shri Umesh Kumar Nand, Executive Director (PMSG), along with officials from NHPC and L&T, the project’s executing contractor.

Shri Singh commended the efforts of engineers, workers, and project stakeholders and highlighted the importance of close coordination between NHPC and its contractors to achieve the remaining project milestones.

The Dibang Multipurpose Project, once operational, is expected to significantly enhance India’s renewable energy capacity, contribute to sustainable development in the northeastern region, and strengthen the country’s hydropower infrastructure.
