NTPC Green Energy Invites Bids for Hydrogen Refueling Station at Kandla

New Delhi: NTPC Green Energy Limited, a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has invited domestic competitive bids for setting up a Hydrogen Refueling Station (HRS) under the Green Hydrogen Mobility Project at Kandla, Gujarat.

The tender (IFB No. NGEL-CS-H2-GUJARAT-001(R)) seeks eligible bidders to undertake the project on a turnkey basis, covering design, engineering, supply, construction, commissioning and 10 years of operation and maintenance.

 

Project Scope and Key Features

The hydrogen refueling station will integrate with a 210 kg per day electrolyser system supplied by the project owner. The selected bidder will be responsible for delivering a fully integrated hydrogen ecosystem including compression, storage, dispensing and safety systems.

Key technical components include:

  • Hydrogen compression system rated at 20 kg per hour up to 500 bar

  • Hydrogen storage capacity of 540 kg at 500 bar

  • Dispenser system for refueling 11 fuel cell electric vehicles at 350 bar

  • Nitrogen generation and fire suppression systems for operational safety

  • Integrated Control System with SCADA and Energy Management System

  • Comprehensive safety studies including HAZOP, SIL, HIRA and QRA assessments

The project will also involve civil and electrical works, HT system integration and development of an office-cum-switchgear facility.

Bid Timeline and Participation Criteria

The bid submission deadline is May 21, 2026, with techno-commercial bids scheduled to open on May 22, 2026. Interested bidders must submit a bid security of ₹1 crore.

Participation is restricted to Class-I and Class-II local suppliers under the Public Procurement (Preference to Make in India) Order.

Technical and Financial Eligibility

Bidders must demonstrate prior experience in hydrogen refueling, hydrogen generation, CNG refueling infrastructure or EPC execution in energy and process industries. Financially, bidders must meet minimum turnover and net worth requirements, including an average annual turnover of ₹59 crore over the past three financial years.

 

Driving India’s Green Hydrogen Push

The project forms part of NTPC Green Energy’s broader strategy to support India’s green hydrogen mobility ecosystem. The Kandla facility is expected to serve as a key demonstration project for hydrogen-based transport infrastructure in the country.
