NTPC Mining Floats ₹2 Crore EMD Tender for Coal Handling Plant at Chatti Bariatu Project
New Delhi, April 24, 2026: NTPC Mining Limited (NML), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, has issued a Notice Inviting Tender (NIT) for the Coal Handling Plant Package for the Chatti Bariatu Coal Mining Project. The tender will be executed through domestic competitive bidding via the Government e-procurement portal.
The project scope includes the design, engineering, supply, erection and commissioning of the complete Coal Handling Plant, covering mechanical, electrical, civil, structural and control systems. The tender is being floated on a single-stage, two-envelope bidding basis consisting of techno-commercial and price bids.
Key Tender Highlights
According to the tender notice, bidders must submit bids online through the NTPC e-procurement portal using a Class-3 Digital Signature Certificate. No hard copies of bidding documents will be issued.
The project aims to establish an advanced coal handling system to support mining operations at the Chatti Bariatu Coal Mining Project, strengthening fuel supply security for power generation.
Bid Security Requirement
Bidders are required to submit a bid security of ₹2 crore. NTPC clarified that bids not accompanied by valid bid security will be rejected as non-responsive.
Preference for Local Suppliers
Only Class-I local suppliers are eligible to participate in the tender under the Government of India’s Public Procurement (Make in India) policy.
Technical Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, bidders must demonstrate experience in designing, manufacturing, erecting and commissioning bulk material handling plants. Specifically, they should have executed:
- Pipe conveyor systems of 800 TPH capacity, or
- Troughed conveyor systems of 1,000 TPH capacity, along with collaboration with a qualified design agency for pipe conveyor systems.
The plant must have been in successful operation for at least one year prior to bid opening.
Financial Eligibility Criteria
Bidders must meet strong financial benchmarks, including:
- Average annual turnover of at least ₹114.16 crore over the last three financial years
- Net worth not less than 100% of paid-up share capital
NTPC has reserved the right to reject or cancel the tender at any stage without assigning reasons.
