ONGC Assumes Control of Well Mori 5 in Mori Field Safety Operations Underway

New Delhi: The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has taken operational control of Well Mori-5 in the Mori Field, located at Irusumanda Village, Malkipuram Mandal, following a recent site incident. The move comes under the leadership of Vikram Saxena, Director (Technology & Field Services), along with the company’s Crisis Management Team (CMT) experts.

Excavation work has been completed to construct a temporary canal from a nearby irrigation source to facilitate deployment of high-capacity firewater pumps. These pumps have now reached the site, with placement and operational activities ongoing. A comprehensive blowout control plan has also been finalized.

ONGC reports a gradual reduction in flame intensity, with the flame successfully redirected to a vertical orientation. Continuous monitoring of air quality, noise levels, and nearby water bodies is being conducted within a 600-metre radius to mitigate environmental impact.

The corporation emphasized that it is working in close coordination with district and police administrations, local authorities, and the media to maintain transparency and ensure effective response measures. All operations are being executed adhering to the highest safety and environmental standards.
