ONGC Bids Farewell to Director (Finance) Vivek Tongaonkar
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has marked the superannuation of Vivek Chandrakant Tongaonkar, Director (Finance), celebrating a distinguished career spanning nearly four decades of financial leadership and institutional contribution.
Nearly 40 Years of Financial Stewardship
An Electrical Engineer and MBA by qualification, Tongaonkar joined ONGC in 1987 and went on to play a pivotal role in strengthening the organisation’s financial systems and governance across multiple business verticals.
His career covered key areas including offshore construction finance, joint venture management, corporate accounts, taxation, and strategic financial planning.
Leadership Across Key Operations and Group Entities
During his tenure, Tongaonkar contributed to financial operations across major ONGC assets and projects, including offshore and onshore basins, corporate offices, and group entities such as Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL).
He held several leadership roles, including Chief Offshore Finance, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Corporate Finance, and ultimately Director (Finance).
Enabling Strategic Growth and Fiscal Discipline
Throughout his journey, he played a key role in aligning financial strategy with ONGC’s long-term vision, strengthening fiscal discipline, and supporting complex projects and joint ventures such as the Panna-Mukta and Tapti initiatives.
