New Delhi,June 2026: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has bid farewell to Shri Sachiv Kumar, Executive Director, who superannuated after an illustrious career spanning more than 37 years of dedicated service to India's energy sector.

A Chemical Engineer by profession, Shri Sachiv Kumar joined ONGC in 1989 and went on to build an exemplary career marked by operational excellence, technological innovation, and strategic leadership. Over the decades, he served across several key locations including Ankleshwar, Gandhar, Lakwa, Dehradun, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Tripura, and Delhi, contributing significantly to the growth and development of the country's upstream energy industry.

A Journey Rooted in Operational Excellence

Beginning his career in the Gandhar fields of Ankleshwar, Shri Kumar played a pivotal role in wellhead operations, well completion activities, and the successful commissioning of the Central Processing Facility (CPF) at Gandhar. His expertise later extended to Assam, where he made valuable contributions to gas processing operations and was instrumental in commissioning a new compressor plant at Lakwa.

Subsequently, he assumed important responsibilities at ONGC headquarters, where he played a crucial role in operational monitoring, production management, and strategic planning, helping strengthen the company's performance across multiple assets.

Championing Technology and Innovation

Throughout his career, Shri Kumar earned recognition as a highly respected leader in onshore operations and technology-driven initiatives. As Head of the New Technology Initiative Group (Onshore), and later in senior leadership positions in Mumbai, Tripura, and Delhi, he spearheaded initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, improving productivity, and fostering innovation across ONGC's production ecosystem.

His leadership style, marked by technical expertise and a people-centric approach, helped mentor generations of ONGC professionals while driving sustainable performance improvements.

Record Achievement in Tripura Asset

One of the defining chapters of Shri Kumar's career came during his tenure in Tripura, where under his leadership, ONGC's Tripura Asset recorded its highest-ever gas production and gas sales since inception. The achievement significantly strengthened the company's contribution to the energy security of Northeast India and underscored the strategic importance of the region in India's energy landscape.

Contribution to DGH India

In the concluding phase of his distinguished career, Shri Sachiv Kumar served on deputation to the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH India) as Additional Director General (Development). Leveraging decades of operational expertise and strategic insight, he made valuable contributions towards advancing India's upstream hydrocarbon sector and promoting sustainable development of the nation's energy resources.
