PESB Finds No Candidate for Hindustan Shipyard CMD, Current CMD likely to get extension
PESB failed to find a new CMD for Hindustan Shipyard. The current chief is now likely to get an extension.
Proceeding with an earlier strategy, the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) helds a Board Meeting for the selection of Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Shipyard Ltd.
The Board has declared that it did not recommend any candidate for the post and advised the Administrative Ministry/Department to choose an appropriate course of further action for selection, including the search-cum-selection committee (SCSC) or as deemed appropriate with the approval of the competent authority.
Probably, it is expected that the current Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Shipyard Ltd, Commodore (Retd.) Hemant Khatri will get his tenure extended till an incumbent is found.
His tenure lasts from September 1, 2020, until July 31, 2025, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

This appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) and is currently serving as Director (Strategic Project) in HSL.
The post will become vacant on August 1, 2025, upon his superannuation.
Earlier, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) concluded an interview process for the position of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) at NTPC Limited, but found none of the 12 candidates suitable.
It has advised the Ministry of Power to initiate the selection process through a search-cum-selection committee.
The current CMD, Gurdeep Singh, is set to retire on July 31, 2025, and there are expectations about a possible extension.
Similarly, the Board did not recommend any candidate for the position of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) after conducting interviews for 10 shortlisted candidates.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is likely to explore alternative selection methods, including a Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC).
The Current BSNL CMD, Robert Jerard Ravi, will probably continue in his position with an extended tenure.
