Powergrid Stand-Alone Credit Rating Revised to ‘BBB’ by Fitch Ratings

New Delhi: Powergrid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has received an updated credit assessment from Fitch Ratings. As per the communication dated 12 February 2026, Fitch has revised Powergrid’s stand-alone credit profile (SCP) from ‘BBB+’ to ‘BBB’, following an Operating Environment Assessment under Fitch’s revised Corporate Rating Criteria.

The rating agency clarified that the revision reflects an analytical recalibration under the new criteria and does not indicate any change in Powergrid’s business fundamentals, financial performance, or liquidity position.

Importantly, Powergrid’s Long-Term Foreign and Local Currency Issuer Default Ratings (IDRs) remain unchanged at ‘BBB-’ with a Stable Outlook, consistent with India’s sovereign rating.
