Railway Board Approves Extension of Additional Charge at RITES
Railway Board extends the additional charge of Director (Projects), RITES, held by Director (Technical) Shri Deepak Tripathi, for nine months effective Nov 5, 2025.
New Delhi, November 26, 2025: In a move to ensure continued leadership stability, the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) has sanctioned the extension of an important additional charge at RITES Limited, a major public sector consultancy firm.
The government has ex-post facto approved that Shri Deepak Tripathi, who is the current Director (Technical) of RITES, will continue to hold the additional charge of the post of Director (Projects). This extension is granted for a further period of nine months, starting from November 5, 2025. This temporary arrangement will last until a regular Director (Projects) is appointed or until the Railway Board issues a different instruction, whichever happens first. The decision was formalized by the Railway Board on November 26, 2025.
About Dr. Deepak Tripathi
Dr. Deepak Tripathi, an ex-IRSME officer of 1990 batch, is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering with Doctorate & Post Graduation from IIM/Mumbai specializing in Operations Management. He has also been trained in Leadership and Management programs from NUS/INSEAD/IIM-K and other institutes.
During his career span of 30+ years, including in Indian Railways (IR) & Konkan Railway (KRCL), he has driven strategic growth and capability building covering a wide business spectrum including Railway operations & maintenance, quality assurance, rolling stock infrastructure & technology projects and exports & international business.
His contributions to the field of management & technology include promotion of lean & technology, both in India and abroad, through authored books, international publications & conferences. He has also steered technology, industry 4.0 and AI projects.
As Director/Quality Assurance (I&L)/RDSO for 06 years, he organized Vendor Development Inspections, Quality Assurance etc. for Rolling Stock with firms in India and abroad. His contributions in the field of technology include development of patented ‘SMART Yard technology,’ Technology/ Transfer projects Including Industry 4.0 and AI projects.
He has been awarded with ‘National Award for Outstanding Services;’ and ‘Best Innovative Idea Award’ from Hon’ble Minister of Railways, ‘Outstanding Author Award’ from EMERALD Publications, U.K and ‘Lal Bahadur Shastri Award’ from Ministry of Railways, ‘Director General Medals’ from National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR) and RDSO/Ministry of Railways and Presidential Awards from Hon’ble Home Minister.
He is also a director on the board of Elicius Energy Private Limited, an associate company of RITES Limited.
