Sakleshpur Subrahmanya Rail Corridor Opens New Era of High Speed Green Connectivity
RITES Ltd. has announced the successful commissioning of the Sakleshpur Subrahmanya railway section, one of the most technically demanding ghat sections under the Ministry of Railways Government of India.
Covering 55 route kilometers and 71 track kilometers, this challenging mountain corridor through the Western Ghats has now been transformed into a modern high speed green railway route. The upgraded line enables Vande Bharat train operations, supports efficient freight movement, and ensures zero emission rail travel through a highly sensitive ecological region.
The project strengthens rail connectivity between coastal and inland Karnataka, improves logistics efficiency, reduces travel time, and promotes sustainable transportation infrastructure. This milestone represents a significant advancement in India’s green railway development and future ready mobility goals.
