SECL Director R.C. Mohapatra Reviews Kusmunda & Gevra Mega Projects
Bilaspur, February 14, 2026: Shri Ramesh Chandra Mohapatra, Director (Technical/Projects & Planning), South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), conducted an extensive inspection of the company’s mega projects at Kusmunda and Gevra, focusing on production performance, infrastructure development, Rehabilitation & Resettlement (R&R) progress, and monsoon preparedness.
Inspection at Kusmunda OCP
During his early morning visit to the Kusmunda Open Cast Project (OCP) on February 13, 2026, Shri Mohapatra inspected the Departmental Mining Patch, Godawari Patch, and Nilkanth Patch. He reviewed ongoing mining operations, safety compliance, deployment of Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM), and coal exposure position.
He emphasized optimal utilization of HEMM, strict adherence to safety protocols, and close monitoring of production parameters to sustain and enhance output levels.
The Director also visited the Nilkanth Camp and inspected the R&R site at Jatraj, directing officials to ensure timely completion of resettlement works with quality infrastructure. Additionally, he reviewed connectivity and infrastructure arrangements at the Kudurmal Bridge near Kanberi.
A detailed review meeting was held with Heads of Departments, the R&R contractor, and representatives from RITES Limited to assess operational milestones, infrastructure development, and time-bound execution of key projects.
Review at Gevra Mega Project
On February 14, 2026, Shri Mohapatra visited the Gevra Mega Project, where he assessed production and productivity performance. The review focused on enhancing output, improving equipment availability, and minimizing operational downtime.
He also directed concerned officials to implement advance monsoon preparedness measures. These include strengthening haul roads and embankments, ensuring robust dewatering systems, maintaining slope stability, and safeguarding critical infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted mining operations during the rainy season.
The visit underscores SECL’s commitment to operational excellence, safety compliance, infrastructure strengthening, and sustainable mining practices across its flagship mega projects.
