SJVN Provides two Solid Waste Management EVs to MC Shimla

SJVN, a Navratna CPSE, is advancing towards a greener future through eco-friendly initiatives under the leadership of Chairman & Managing Director Sh. Bhupender Gupta.

As part of Swachhta Hi Sewa Pahkwada 2025, in benign presence of Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Shimla (Urban) Sh. Harish Janartha and Director (Personnel), SJVN Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma, two Electric Solid Waste Management Vehicles were flagged off from the Mall Road, Shimla. On this occasion, Sh. Bhupender Attri, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Shimla along with senior officials of SJVN and MC Shimla were also present.

Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma informed that SJVN has extended financial support of Rs 25.44 lakh to Municipal Corporation, Shimla for procurement of two eco-friendly Electric Solid Waste Management Vehicles. “The deployment of these EVs will significantly strengthen Shimla’s cleanliness drive by enabling zero-emission garbage collection and contributing to improved air quality,” said Sh. Sharma.

The initiative is a part of ‘Clean Green Festivities - Eco-friendly and zero-waste celebrations’, one of the five key pillars of ‘Swacchotsav’, the theme of this year’s Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign. By supporting sustainable waste management solutions, SJVN reaffirms its commitment to environmental stewardship and corporate social responsibility.

Under the aegis of Swachh Bharat Mission, the 9th edition of Swachhta Hi Sewa Pahkwada on theme “Swachhotsav” commenced on 17th September and will culminate on 2nd October 2025. The 15-day campaign aims to mobilize millions across the nation in a collective call to action for Swachhta.
