Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), a Miniratna subsidiary of Coal India Limited under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, has achieved a major milestone in the field of communication and digital innovation.The studio was inaugurated by WCL’s Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Shri J. P. Dwivedi, in the presence of Director (HR) Dr. Hemant Sharad Pandey, Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Ajay Madhukar Mhetre, and other senior officials.

Nagpur | 15 November 2025: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), a Miniratna subsidiary of Coal India Limited under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, has achieved a major milestone in the field of communication and digital innovation. The company has established Coal India’s first state-of-the-art multimedia studio at its headquarters, marking a significant step forward for digital transformation within the coal sector. The studio was inaugurated by WCL’s Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Shri J. P. Dwivedi, in the presence of Director (HR) Dr. Hemant Sharad Pandey, Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Ajay Madhukar Mhetre, and other senior officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Dwivedi said, “This studio is not merely an infrastructure addition but a powerful creative platform that will elevate WCL’s strategic and sustained communication to new heights. Communication is the bridge that connects our workforce, achievements, and vision to the world. This facility will enable WCL to present its stories, innovations, and human-centric narratives in a more impactful and dynamic manner. I am confident this initiative will play a crucial role in advancing the government’s vision of achieving digital self-reliance in stakeholder communication within the coal sector.”

Director (HR) Dr. Pandey highlighted that the studio will serve as a hub for producing high-quality social media content for WCL’s popular initiatives such as WCL Samvaad, Deep Jyoti, WCL News, and WCL Weekly Express. He added that the facility will strengthen WCL’s digital presence and enhance knowledge sharing as well as employee-centric storytelling across platforms.

Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Mhetre emphasized that the studio will reinforce transparency, accountability, and good governance within WCL. It will enable the effective dissemination of vigilance awareness, ethical work practices, and preventive vigilance initiatives in a simplified and engaging format.

During the event, Shri Ashish Tayal, Senior Manager (Public Relations), was honored with a personal appreciation letter from former Chairman of Coal India Limited, Shri P. M. Prasad. The recognition was formally presented by CMD Shri J. P. Dwivedi in the esteemed presence of Dr. Hemant Sh. Pandey, Shri Ajay M. Mhetre & General Manager (Min.PR), WCL Shri Satish Gabale and other senior dignitaries. The commendation acknowledges Shri Tayal’s exemplary contribution to strengthening WCL’s communication excellence.

Equipped with advanced recording, lighting, and post-production technologies, the new multimedia studio reflects WCL’s strong commitment to modernization, innovation, and transparent communication. The inaugural event saw active participation from a large number of senior officials and employees.

WCL’s new multimedia facility stands as a benchmark within the Coal India family and is poised to define the digital future of communication in the coal sector.
