Sensex, Nifty opens in green with PSU stocks on high trail, Here to Know
New Delhi, December 22, 2025: The Indian Stock Market Exchange opens with a green signal with equity indices rising up to 0.55% in the early trade on Monday. The BSE Sensex opens at Rs 85,145.90 with rising up to high of Rs 85,461.19 against previous close of Rs 84,929.36 on Friday. The positive factors are driven by strong buying in the US and Chinese equities.
Meanwhile, the Nifty index rises 165 points to trade at Rs 26,128.30 as of the current time zone. The Broader market indices come along with the line with benchmarks of the Nifty Midcap 100 increasing 0.58% and the Nifty Small cap 100 rising 0.51%.
The PSU stocks are surprisingly trading higher with REC Ltd, NMDC Ltd, PFC, GAIL Ltd, Bharat Electronics Ltd, KIOCL Ltd with top gainers among indices. Among metal stocks like Tata Steel, SAIL, NALCO, JSW Steel Ltd etc are also trading higher with top profit gainers.
Shares of many gas and oil stocks are also in positive zone with IGL shares trending higher by 0.90% along with ONGC Ltd, BPCL, IOCL stocks trading in green. With strategic government reforms and higher dividends payments, the public stocks are edging higher.
On Friday, foreign institutional investors sold equities worth Rs 2,387 crore, while domestic institutional investors were net buyers of equities worth Rs 5,200 crore.
