Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), a 100% subsidiary of Coal India Limited and a Miniratna Category-I PSU, is headquartered in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The company operates coal mining activities across 10 areas in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. WCL has 52 producing mines, including both underground and opencast mines. The company supplies coal to major industries such as power, cement, steel, fertilizers, and chemicals.
WCL has invited applications for the post of Director (Technical). This vacancy will arise on 1st July 2026. The post falls under Schedule-B category with a pay scale of ₹1,60,000 – ₹2,90,000 (IDA). The appointment duration is five years or until the date of superannuation, whichever is earlier.
The Director (Technical) role is crucial. The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily mine operations, mine planning, technical decision-making, and overall safety management. This role reports directly to the Chairman & Managing Director.
Applicants must be qualified Mining Engineers with a First Class Certificate of Competency under the Indian Mines Act. Candidates should have at least five years of senior-level experience in mining operations or mine planning within the last ten years.
Eligible candidates can come from Central PSUs, Central Government Group-A services, Armed Forces, State PSUs with turnover of ₹1,000 crore or more, or Private Sector companies with turnover of ₹1,000 crore or more. Preference will be given to candidates from listed companies.

The last date to submit applications is 19 February 2026, 3:00 PM, and the last date for nodal officers to forward applications to PESB is 2 March 2026, 5:00 PM. Late or incomplete applications will be rejected.
