Jaguar Land Rover Announces Transformation Programme; Targets £1.7 Billion Savings and 4,000 Role Reductions
Mumbai: Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited, has provided an update on its strategic transformation programme.
The programme, aligned with JLR’s “Growth Reimagined” strategy announced on 19 June 2026, aims to simplify the organisation, improve operational performance and support long-term sustainable growth.

Cost Savings Target: Approximately £1.7 billion over the next two years

Break-even Goal: Reduce break-even level towards 300,000 units

Workforce Reduction: Around 4,000 roles globally over the next two years

Direct manufacturing jobs are not expected to be impacted

Reductions will be achieved through voluntary means wherever possible

Future Investment: Commitment to invest £15–18 billion over the next five years in electrification, digital technologies, advanced manufacturing and enhanced customer experiences
JLR has begun consultation on the first round of reductions and stated that it will provide support to affected colleagues while engaging with Trade Unions and employee representatives throughout the transition.
JLR currently employs around 43,000 people globally.
