Mumbai: IndusInd Bank Limited on Wednesday informed stock exchanges that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a penalty of ₹2.03 lakh on the bank’s Currency Chest at Chennai for discrepancies related to Soiled Note Remittance (SNR).

The disclosure was made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, and was submitted to the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), BSE Limited, and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.

According to the bank, the penalty was levied in terms of Paragraph 2 (i), (ii) and (iii) of the RBI Master Direction DCM (CC) No. G1/03.44.01/2025-26 dated April 1, 2025, which outlines the Scheme of Penalties for bank branches and currency chests.

The action follows discrepancies detected during the examination of soiled notes received in a remittance dated September 30, 2025. The RBI’s order imposing the penalty was received by the bank on January 27, 2026.

IndusInd Bank clarified that the monetary impact of the penalty amounts to ₹2.03 lakh, and the intimation has also been uploaded on the bank’s official website.
