Cabinet Extends D. Thara's Tenure as Additional Secretary in Housing Ministry

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension of IAS officer D. Thara's tenure as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs until December 5, 2026.

New Delhi: In a key administrative decision, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of central deputation tenure of Ms. D. Thara, IAS (Gujarat cadre: 1995), who is currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on June 13, 2026, her tenure has been extended up to December 5, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

 

Temporary Upgradation of Post to Continue

The extension has been granted by continuing the temporary upgradation of the post, enabling D. Thara to continue in her present role at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

The approval was granted by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, which oversees appointments and tenure extensions for senior government officials.

Experienced Bureaucrat from Gujarat Cadre

Ms. D. Thara belongs to the 1995 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and is from the Gujarat cadre. Over the years, she has held several important positions in the government and has been associated with key policy initiatives related to urban development and housing.

Her continued tenure is expected to provide continuity to ongoing programmes and reforms being undertaken by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

 

ACC Order Issued by DoPT

The order was issued by the Secretariat of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet under the Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
