New Delhi:  The Government of India has approved key senior-level administrative decisions involving two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, strengthening continuity in central governance.

 

Niraj Verma to Hold Additional Charge

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the assignment of additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs to Shri Niraj Verma, IAS (AM:1994), who is currently serving as Secretary, Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice.

Shri Verma will hold the additional responsibility from January 3 to January 29, 2026, during the leave period of Shri Nikunja Bihari Dhal, IAS (OR:1993), the regular Secretary of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.

The decision ensures uninterrupted functioning of parliamentary coordination and legislative processes during the temporary absence of the incumbent.

 

P. Bala Kiran’s Central Deputation Extended

In another important decision, the ACC has approved the extension of central deputation tenure of Shri P. Bala Kiran, IAS (KL:2008), who is serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT).

His tenure has been extended for two years beyond February 28, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The extension reflects the government’s confidence in his leadership and administrative performance at the centre.
