President Approves Induction of Four Officers into Tripura IAS Cadre

New Delhi, December 1, 2025 — The President of India has given the formal assent for the induction of four officers into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), who have been allocated to the Tripura Cadre. The appointments, issued via separate notifications by the Department of Personnel & Training (DOPT), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, address the vacancies within the Select List of 2024 (arising between 01.01.2024 and 31.12.2024).

Appointments from State Civil Service (SCS)

Three officers from the Tripura State Civil Service (SCS) have been appointed to the IAS on a probationary basis under Rule 8(1) of the IAS (Recruitment) Rules, 1954, and Regulation 9(1) of the IAS (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955.

The newly elevated officers from the SCS are:

• Shri Rajib Datta (Date of Birth: 05.01.1968)

• Shri Biplab Das (Date of Birth: 17.12.1968)

• Shri Subhash Chandra Saha (Date of Birth: 20.05.1974)

Note: This appointment is subject to the outcome of the SLP(C) No. 19765-19767/2015 pending before the Supreme Court.

Appointment from Non-State Civil Service (Non-SCS)

One officer from the Non-State Civil Service (Non-SCS) of Tripura has also been appointed to the IAS on probation, against the same Select List of 2024 vacancies, under Rule 8(2) of the IAS (Recruitment) Rules, 1954.

Official Confirmation and Next Steps

The notifications were signed by Shri Sanjay Kumar Chaurasia, Under Secretary to the Government of India. The Chief Secretary of the Government of Tripura has been instructed to promptly submit a proposal for the fixation of seniority and year of allotment for all four officers in accordance with the IAS (Regulation of Seniority) Rules. These appointments are designed to enhance the administrative strength of the Tripura Cadre.
