Indias first wind tender over subscribed despite offtake uncertainties Bridge to India
KOLKATA: India's first wind tender offered by Solar Energy Corporation of India was over subscribed despite offtake uncertainties feels Bridge to India, a renewable energy analyst firm.
Earlier this month, SECI received bids for India’s first wind power tender. There are two unique aspects of this tender – successful bidders will sign 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with power trading company, PTC India, which will sign back-to-back PPAs with as yet unknown distribution companies; and existing operational projects under construction projects are eligible to participate.
The tender paves way for a move away from feed in tariffs to competitive auction for wind power and should make it more attractive for DISCOMs by bringing down tariffs . Economictimes
