CMPDI collaborated with Directorate General of Hydrocarbons for Advancing Energy Sector
Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI) and Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) signed an MoU to cooperate in the areas of data sharing and technology transfer, with a focus on unconventional hydrocarbon resources.

Ranchi, 24 May 2025: Coal India’s subsidiary Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI) and Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the areas of data sharing and technology transfer, with a focus on unconventional hydrocarbon resources.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. Pallavi Jain Govil, Director General, DGH; Shri Sachiv Kumar, ADG (Development); Shri Manoj Kumar, CMD, CMPDI; Shri Shankar Nagachari, Director (T/CRD); Shri Ajay Kumar, Director (T/P&D and T/RD&T); Shri Sanjay Kumar Dubey, GM (TS/PR); along with senior officials from DGH, CMPDI, ONGC, IOCL, CBM operators, and academic institutions.

This strategic collaboration aims to establish a robust framework for exchanging data, technical expertise, and research insights, strengthening India’s efforts in exploring and developing resources such as Coal Bed Methane (CBM), Shale Gas, and other unconventional energy sources.
The MoU was followed by a stakeholder meeting where CBM operators and participants from academic institutions emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration in CBM and unconventional resource development.
